data-end=\"747\">FTTB stands for Fiber to the Building<\/strong> \u2014 or sometimes, Fiber to the Basement. It means the fiber optic cable runs all the way from your service provider <strong data-start=\"862\" data-end=\"881\">to the building<\/strong>, but not into each individual apartment or office.<\/p><p data-start=\"934\" data-end=\"1169\">Instead, the fiber usually stops at a central point like the building\u2019s <strong data-start=\"1006\" data-end=\"1024\">equipment room<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"1026\" data-end=\"1038\">basement<\/strong>, or <strong data-start=\"1043\" data-end=\"1068\">communication cabinet<\/strong>. From there, <strong data-start=\"1082\" data-end=\"1122\">existing copper (or Ethernet) cables<\/strong> are used to bring the internet into each unit.<\/p><p data-start=\"1171\" data-end=\"1294\">So, you\u2019re not getting full fiber inside your home \u2014 but you\u2019re still much closer than with older setups like DSL or cable.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div href=\"https:\/\/yfconnectivity.com\/what-is-an-optical-network-unit\/\"><strong data-start=\"1522\" data-end=\"1529\">ONU<\/strong><\/a> or <strong data-start=\"1533\" data-end=\"1551\">network switch<\/strong>) converts the fiber signal.<\/p><\/li><li data-start=\"1580\" data-end=\"1686\"><p data-start=\"1582\" data-end=\"1686\">That signal travels through existing <strong data-start=\"1619\" data-end=\"1633\">LAN cables<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"1635\" data-end=\"1650\">phone wires<\/strong>, or <strong data-start=\"1655\" data-end=\"1672\">coaxial
